Procedural considerations for teaching prenatal diagnosis and follow-up of clinical cases of agenesis of the ductus venosus.
Abstract
In the training of future health professionals, special attention is required to learn the diagnosis and follow-up of the agenesis of the ductus venosus, which is associated with the formation of alternate drainage systems, leading to an increase in pressure towards the right atrium, and consequently, risk of heart failure, hemodynamic alteration, poor obstetric results, and impact on postnatal life. A prospective cross-sectional study of the ductus venosus was taken as a basis, as an essential component in the intrauterine evaluation, which gave an added value on the probability of cardiac, structural, and genetic defects; likewise, there was an association with other fetal pathologies and the formation of alternate intra and extrahepatic drainage systems in 100% of the cases.
