Research in dental practice based on the use of biomarkers. The case of alanine aminotransferase enzyme levels in patients with periodontitis.
Abstract
Periodontal diseases are one of the most prevalent problems in the mouth and in public health in general, generating a number of serious consequences for the normal development of people. This investigation of dental practice based on biomarkers is a relevant research methodology. This project evidenced the levels of a biomarker: the enzyme alanine aminotransferase (ALT) in saliva, its influence on the appearance and progression of periodontitis, and its relationship with its severity in patients who attended the dentistry service of the General Teaching Hospital. of Calderon. Based on the results, it was concluded that alanine aminotransferase enzyme levels were elevated in patients with periodontitis.
