Abstract

Demographic trends indicate that by the year 2030, there will be a significant increase in the aging of the population in Latin America and the Caribbean. Due to the sexual division of labor, in terms of capabilities, women and men reach old age differently. There are several challenges that are identified in the design and instrumentalization of public policies when addressing the issue of aging from a gender perspective. One of them is the issue of care work and the right to care in old age. Some proposals are made in the direction of attention to these issues within the framework of public policies.
