A contribution to caring for the environment: The contribution of ozone in dental practice as an alternative method for environmental decontamination.

Abstract

The dental practice is one of the spaces where scientists can contribute to caring for the environment through the use of new resources. Decontamination agents provide dentists with a safe practice and patient environment. The survey and the interview were used to collect information from a sample of 80 professionals from the Cotopaxi College of Dentists, Ecuador, and the subject was supported by the bibliographic review in indexed bases. The results showed a low percentage of knowledge about the properties, benefits, and use of ozone disinfectants. It is concluded that the dentists surveyed have limited knowledge about ozone and that the scientific literature supports the effectiveness of ozone.
