Abstract

The present investigation was important for the Medicine career, because the effectiveness or effect of dexamethasone in parenteral doses of 4mg in third molar surgery had to be known more closely, for which a quasi-experimental and observational type investigation was applied, in a 38-year-old female patient; data was collected in the clinical history and the measurement instrument to check the edema was from Filho et al. To determine the pain, the visual analog scale of pain was used, and the results obtained were that dexamethasone in prophylactic use has the effect of considerably reducing inflammation and postoperative pain.
