School violence from the psychosocial perspective.
Abstract
The objective of the study is to analyze the variables that discriminate the group of high and low school violence. The study is explanatory with a cross-sectional design. The sample is representative of the region, 1,687 adolescents from the North Coast of Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco. A cluster and discriminant analysis was performed. The results reveal that the variables that discriminate against the group of adolescents with high violence, are the offensive communication of the father and mother, psychological discomfort and positive attitude to the transgression of social norms; On the other hand, the positive attitude towards institutional authority, open communication from the father and mother, community participation, social support in informal systems and community integration, are the variables that discriminate in the group with low school violence.
