Abstract

We present the case of an 11-day-old male neonate, obtained by scheduled cesarean section from a multiple gestation mother, after 40 weeks of gestation; On the first day of life, he went to the neonatal area of the IESS Manta Hospital due to vomiting of a moderate amount, after being fed with formula milk, and Down syndrome is suspected due to physical characteristics; He also presented axial hypotonia, atrial septal defect, patent ductus arteriosus, and pulmonary hypertension. Cases of preduodenal portal vein are very rare, first described in 1921, and until 2002 the medical literature had only reported 82 cases worldwide. This article describes our experience in the neonatal approach and early surgical resolution, as a result of a network collaboration between the Social Security Hospital of Manta and the Hospital of the Ministry of Public Health, Verdi Cevallos Balda of Portoviejo.
