Private higher education in times of pandemic. Uncertainty and experiences of the academy.
Abstract
The objective of the work was to analyze the prevailing situation among teachers of Private Higher Education Institutions (IESP) in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico, during the COVID-19 pandemic. A qualitative phenomenological study was carried out during the months of May to June 2020, where in-depth interviews were applied to six professors belonging to this type of institution. The results obtained show the lack of infrastructure and concrete actions by the IESP to optimally guarantee the continuity of the educational service, as well as a devaluation of the teaching function in times of health contingency. The IESPs have not done a job of supporting their teachers, confronting them with situations of stress and uncertainty.
