Cognitive impairment and risk of falls in older adults in Culiacán, Sinaloa, Mexico.
Abstract
People go through various stages during the life cycle, aging being a natural process that generates biological, psychological and physiological changes in the elderly that, when associated with other factors such as cognitive deterioration, increases the risk of falls. ; Therefore, today they are considered a public health problem. The objective of the study was to establish the relationship between cognitive deterioration and risk of falls in older adults; therefore, a descriptive and correlational study was carried out, with a simple random sampling in 220 older adults. finding that there is a positive, significant correlation between the main study variables and concluding that as cognitive deterioration increases, the risk of falls in the elderly increases.
