Manic Pixie Dream Girl: In love with the stereotype of the dream woman. An intervention proposal.
Abstract
The objective of this research was to evaluate the effectiveness of an intervention on knowledge and attitudes towards the top of the Manic Pixie Dream Girl and the myths of romantic love in a sample of psychology students from the Central West region of Mexico. The study was developed under a quantitative approach, of a pre-experimental type with a pre- and post-test of a single group. An incidental sample of 50 participants was constituted. To evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention, an instrument was used that considered three elements: (1) Exposure to romantic comedies, (2) Knowledge and positioning on the Manic Pixie Dream Girl top, and (3) Beliefs about the myths of romantic love. The results confirmed the effectiveness of the intervention, especially on the knowledge of the cinematographic top and the beliefs of the participants about the myths of romantic love.
