Social representations of people with type 2 diabetes mellitus who attend a health center.

Abstract

With the general objective of describing the experience of people with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus who attend a health center, a qualitative, descriptive, and interpretative study was carried out with a semi-structured interview. Content analysis was carried out, obtaining two central categories: Acceptance of life and Neglect of their state, which emerge from the experience of living with diabetes. The lack of knowledge and self-care that they have in their lives is revealed, which was manifested in the interviews, so for nursing professionals it is vitally important to work and provide care from a holistic and promotional perspective in order to influence permanent and continuous in said condition and thus reverse future complications.
