Cultural capital and imposed motivational relevance: a triangulation proposal.
Abstract
The proposal describes a triangulation of data between constructive-structuralist and phenomenological perspectives, based on a review of Bourdieu's concept of cultural capital and habitus and imposed motivational relevance. The habitus is the key concept to guarantee comparability between sociological and phenomenological research and to develop a triangulation that complies with the individual-society relationship. Examples of the application of different perspectives are provided, including phenomenology, in facts such as social inequality, the economy and the origin of power from corporality. The proposal seeks to unite two different theoretical perspectives to obtain a more complete understanding of social phenomena.
