Citizen education: Analysis of a study plan and teachers´ speeches
Abstract
Higher education institutions train professionals who will play a fundamental role in society, helping to address priority needs and problems. Education for citizenship is relevant at all educational levels and is included both in curricular content and in skills and attitudes for professional training. The role of teachers is fundamental and articulates the educational curriculum in practice. In this paper we present the analysis of a study plan for the psychology major and the teaching discourses, using a qualitative methodology and content analysis. It concludes by highlighting the revision of the curricular contents, the implementation of actions to mainstream priority issues in professional training and an institutional positioning.
