Abstract

The objective of this research work is to explore how initial education teachers perceive and interpret their own development, recognizing its importance in personal performance, for which a qualitative approach was used, starting with a bibliographic review to establish the concept of "professional development", and subsequently an instrument that covered many competencies was designed and applied. The results showed that teachers want to hone interpersonal skills such as leadership and teamwork, as well as intrapersonal skills such as self-awareness and emotional control. In conclusion, initial education teachers are aware of their strengths and weaknesses, so personal development is essential for their professional performance.
