Educate Argentine youth through Physical Education. An approach of the journal Patria y Juventud of the year 1947.
Abstract
In the middle of the 20th century, Physical Education in Argentina was thought of as a prominent component of the educational system since it was the subject in charge of the physical education of millions of people. The official discourse held that having a physically well-prepared youth was a precondition for joining the group of advanced countries. These issues are investigated through a magazine called Patria y Juventud linked to the General Directorate of Physical Education; organization directed by César Vázquez. The official, from the pages of the publication, takes a position on various topics related to the education of the citizen, as well as sought to spread the benefits of discipline to the rest of society. The paper analyzes this perspective.
