Anxiety-State and academic performance in nursing students.
Abstract
The objective of this research was to determine the relationship between Anxiety-State (A-E) and Academic Performance (AR) in a population of 262 nursing students from a public institution in southeastern Mexico. For Spielberger (1989), State-Anxiety is a transitory emotional condition of the human being characterized by feelings of perceived tension. This factor at moderate levels eventually favors Academic Performance; however, at high rates it hinders it. To determine the A-E, the State-Trait Anxiety Questionnaire by Spielberger & Díaz (2010) was used and to establish the RA, school grades were analyzed. From the correlational analysis, a very low positive and statistically significant relationship is observed between the A-E and the AR (.134; p < 0.05).
