Methodology to evaluate the emissions of polluting gases in light vehicles using an OBD II driving cycle and a gas analyzer: a case study in the city of Ambato.
Abstract
This study focuses on the evaluation of polluting gas emissions in light vehicles that run on gasoline. The main objective is to develop an accurate and reliable methodology to measure and analyze CO, CO2, HC and NOx emissions using an OBD II drive cycle and gas analyzer. To achieve this goal, emissions measurements were made under two different conditions: idling and running. A specialized exhaust analyzer was used to collect the emission data, and an OBD II drive cycle was implemented to simulate realistic driving conditions. The results obtained revealed different patterns in the gas emissions in the different operating conditions of the vehicle.
