Abstract

The artisan production of wood carvings is a valuable manifestation of the cultural heritage of San Antonio de Ibarra, which has played a fundamental role in the identity of this community over the years. This research aimed to analyze in detail the craft production in San Antonio de Ibarra and its influence on local economic development, with an approach that combines qualitative and quantitative methods. A survey was carried out aimed at the producers and owners of artisan workshops in the parish, in order to obtain precise data on the current situation of the artisans. Despite the difficulties faced by artisans, the production of woodcarvings continues to be a legacy.
