Exploring the problem of deforestation in the Ecuadorian Amazon.
Abstract
The Amazon has been the subject of numerous investigations that have analyzed the detrimental effects of irresponsible resource extraction in this region. Given the vital importance of preserving the "lungs of the universe" for the conservation of the human species and its environment, this research focused on a historical review of the Chevron case and its impact on social awareness. A qualitative approach and a transversal design of bibliographic review were used, employing methods of documentary review, hermeneutics, and analysis and synthesis. The results revealed significant impacts derived from the irresponsible extraction of resources, which seriously affected the environmental, economic and social aspects of the Amazon and its population.
