The role of institutions in economic development. Theory and evidence.
Abstract
This paper analyzes the fundamental theories about the role of institutions in economic development. The hypothesis is that institutions are critical to reaching their full potential. The methods used are qualitative, since the theories of the institutionalist current associated with economic and quantitative development are analyzed, and since descriptive statistics are also used to analyze the data, coming from the Latinobarometer. The work is structured as follows: the first part deals with the introduction; the second has to do with development and in it the literature, the methods used and their results are reviewed; the third part deals with the conclusions.
