Parasitic diseases and armed conflict: an analysis of their interaction in the world and Colombia.
Abstract
Throughout history, there has been a link between war and disease, the armed conflict has been a challenge in the detection and control of infectious diseases, since it causes the collapse of health services; In addition, population displacements cause greater risks of contracting diseases due to overcrowding, poor sanitation, and greater exposure of the population to disease vectors. The effects of armed conflicts on health should be included as a subject of analysis in health programs, since the conflict should stop being observed as belonging to other disciplines. By exploring the relationship between these two issues, it seeks to better understand the implications of war on public health, being the essence in this work.
