Abstract

The objective of this study is to carry out an exhaustive review of the scientific literature, based on prospective randomized clinical trials, cohort studies, cases and reviews published in important databases such as PubMed, Scielo and Google Scholar. It seeks to identify and analyze the risk factors that influence the termination of pregnancy in cases of spontaneous abortion. Among the risk factors identified, the influence of genetic and chromosomal factors stands out as the most common cause of spontaneous abortions. Fetal chromosomal abnormalities, such as the inability of chromosomes to separate correctly (trisomy and monosomy), account for a significant proportion of cases. Maternal age has been identified as the main risk factor for aneuploidies.
