Attention to COVID-19 patients as a predisposing factor for the development of Burnout Syndrome in nursing staff.
Abstract
The research seeks to find out if the care of COVID-19 patients is a predisposing factor for the development of Burnout Syndrome in nursing staff. The research is quantitative, descriptive, observational, and cross-sectional. The instrument used was the Maslach Burnout Inventory questionnaire with a universe of 251 morning shift nurses. The absence of the syndrome was identified because in the emotional exhaustion dimension, 40% showed low range for screening, in the depersonalization dimension 54.2% in low range, and personal fulfillment presented 13.3% in low range. Suggestions for prevention based mainly on the creation of programs for coping with work stress and the formation of habits for mental health are raised.
