Students’ motivations for studying the Physical Education bachelor’s degree in Chiapas.

Abstract

The research was carried out in two normal schools of bachelor’s degree in physical education in Chiapas, Mexico. The purpose was to describe the main motivations of students who recently entered the 2023-2024 school year to pursue said degree. The work was qualitative with a descriptive transectional non-experimental design, and the sample was made up of 81 students between 17 and 23 years of age. To collect the data, the survey and the focus group were used. The results showed that the main motivation of the students is the pleasure of teaching and working with children and young people. It is concluded that the motivations of students to pursue the degree are mainly intrinsic.
