Comparative analysis of insured and beneficiaries in the deposit insurance of Credit Unions in Ecuador.
Abstract
This study examined deposit insurance in the popular and solidarity financial sector in Ecuador. It focused on evaluating the proportion of insured and beneficiaries in active institutions and in the process of liquidation, using the chi-squared method. The results confirmed significant differences in the distribution of beneficiaries between segments, validating the hypotheses. Implications for the management of financial institutions in liquidation were identified. In summary, this study contributed to the understanding of the distribution of deposit insurance beneficiaries in the popular and solidarity sector in Ecuador, enriching the knowledge on depositor protection and the structure of deposit insurance coverage.
