Analysis of the effectiveness of socio-educational measures in criminal proceedings of adolescent offenders in Santo Domingo.
Abstract
The present investigative work focused on evaluating the effectiveness of the socio-educational measures applied in cases of adolescent offenders in the Santo Domingo canton. A mixed approach was used that combined qualitative and quantitative methods such as interviews and relevant statistical analyses. The research was descriptive, documentary and in the field, using deductive and analytical-synthetic approaches. The main findings indicate that socio-educational measures have currently failed to reduce the commission of crimes by adolescent offenders. It is concluded that it is crucial that Comprehensive Care Centers (CAI) implement new programs that address social, family, and psychological aspects to exert a long-term positive influence on the behavior of these confined adolescents.
