Analysis of the advantages of online hearings and challenges of Ecuador's legal system in introducing and conducting them.

Abstract

The research focused on analyzing the benefits and challenges related to the implementation of video hearings in the Ecuadorian judicial system, in response to the need that arose during the pandemic. A qualitative approach was used, and hermeneutic, inductive, and analytical-synthetic methods were applied in the methodology. The results indicate that technology can streamline the administration of justice and comply with procedural speed without compromising important legal principles; In addition, advantages are highlighted in the implementation of telematic hearings; However, challenges are identified that must be overcome to fully take advantage of technology in the Ecuadorian judicial system. These challenges must be addressed to ensure successful implementation of video hearings in the judicial system.
