Abstract

This study focuses on analyzing the right to be forgotten and its relevance as a safeguard against the adverse effects of Information and Communication Technologies on the protection of personal data, privacy, honor and reputation. Despite the Organic Law on Personal Data Protection of Ecuador in 2021, the right to be forgotten is not explicitly recognized. The methodology used is qualitative, based on scientific methods. The results indicate that this right originated in the European Union and allows individuals to remove personal information from search engines and websites when it is no longer relevant or necessary, thus protecting personal dignity in the digital age.
