Challenges in urban security in Ecuador: An analysis focused on the city of Quito.
Abstract
This study analyzes seven crimes that threaten security in Quito. The last semester of 2021 is examined and compared with the same period in 2022, considering frequency, schedules, and perception of insecurity. Data from the Quito Situation Study and the Citizen Security Observatory of the Metropolitan District of Quito are used, along with national news indicators. The approach is qualitative and descriptive, without experimentation, based on the historical-logical method and documentary sources. The results serve for future research on citizen security and crime prevention, and thus strengthen the perception of security through plans promoted by competent institutions.
