The exploration of the problem of child labor and its consequences in the integral development of children and adolescents in Babahoyo.
Abstract
Children and adolescents in Ecuador, despite being a state priority, face growing challenges, such as the increasing presence of children living in poverty and working in the streets. Despite laws, international agreements and public policies aimed at protecting their rights, several factors threaten their integral development. This study in Babahoyo combined quantitative and qualitative approaches, with a descriptive and explanatory design to understand the causes and effects of the phenomenon. Analytical-synthetic, statistical and empirical methods were used, as well as observation and surveys. The results indicate the need for more effective monitoring and rigorous enforcement of laws against child labor, as existing regulations are not sufficiently effective in addressing this problem.
