Abstract

This study analyzed the applicability of the going concern accounting principle during the COVID-19 pandemic in Imbabura, highlighting the importance of evaluating operational continuity in times of global uncertainty. The research used statistical analysis and bibliographic review, considering fiscal data from 2019, 2020 and 2021, in addition to summaries of scientific studies. The results highlighted the need to disclose material uncertainties in financial reporting, especially in challenging situations such as the pandemic. In conclusion, this study underlines the continued relevance of the going concern principle, emphasizing the importance of detailed evaluation and transparent disclosure of financial information to maintain the integrity of accounting records and the continuity of organizations in adverse situations.
