The economic evolution of floriculture in Ecuador.

Abstract

The article addresses the relevance of agroindustry in the economy of Ecuador, focusing on floriculture and its development in the export market. The methodology used combines qualitative approaches supported by previous theories and uses inductive-deductive and analytical-synthetic methods. The results highlight that the majority of flower companies are located in Pichincha and that rose production is predominant due to the favorable climate. Despite the initial uncertainty due to the pandemic, the sector has maintained a significant contribution to Ecuadorian GDP, with 5% growth in the global market in 2021 without a decrease in exports, findings that underline the importance of the manufacturing sector. flowers in the Ecuadorian economy.
