Revolution in dairy production practices on farms in San Jacinto del Búa: an analysis of innovation in the sector.
Abstract
Innovation in dairy production arises from challenges identified to strengthen agriculture. The parish of San Jacinto del Búa has focused on identifying predominant production systems, finding three: intensive, semi-intensive and traditional, being the semi-intensive the most common according to reports. A field investigation corroborated this trend. It is concluded that the semi-intensive system predominates on dairy farms in the parish, although some producers have misperceptions about preventive maintenance. The adoption of new technologies and approaches to improve the efficiency and sustainability of these production systems is suggested.
