The lack of a mandatory requirement for the participation of political candidates at the sectional level in debates promoted by the National Electoral Council, without considering the size of the electorate.
Abstract
This research seeks to evaluate the elimination of the minimum voter requirement for mandatory debates, with the aim of improving informed decision-making in elections. A mixed methodology was used to collect data and relevant information. The results show that voters consider it essential to establish mandatory debates for sectional candidates, regardless of the number of voters. The research concludes that political debates provide access to information about candidates and their government plans, reducing indecision when voting.
