Abstract

The interest in investigating this topic is related to the need to have indicators linked to the academic performance of students, which is increasingly becoming a diagnostic device; It is also linked to the lack that exists in the Faculty of Geography of this type of explanatory and quantitative studies that measures the socioeconomic variables and academic performance associated with dropout. The research is based on theoretical contributions from various fields of knowledge that together are usually called dropout theories and includes approaches from the sociological, psychological and economic perspective, in addition to integrating quantitative measurement, which is constituted as a basis to guide the understanding school trajectories.
