Characterization of multidimensional self-concept in a sample of university teachers.
Abstract
This study had the objectives: to describe the multidimensional self-concept of university teachers and compare it in relation to sex, age, marital status, years of teaching experience, level of study and type of hiring. It is quantitative descriptive-inferential in nature. 362 teachers participate (170 men and 192 women). The Form 5 Self-Concept Questionnaire and a sociodemographic questionnaire were administered. Women have a lower emotional self than men. Multidimensional self-concept increases with biological age but decreases after 30 years of teaching experience. Being married and having doctoral studies favors the stability of self-concept, as well as having job certainty. It is necessary to deepen the study of self-concept and its relationship with other variables.
