Relationship between the variable of family functionality and mental health of university students at the Bahía de Banderas Academic Unit, Autonomous University of Nayarit, Mexico

Abstract

The objective of this research is to determine the relationship between the variable of family functionality and mental health of university students, using as instruments the Bellón and Luna Family Functionality scale, the Goldberg General Health Questionnaire (GHQ – 12). The research is quantitative, the design is non-experimental, descriptive, transversal, correlational, the sampling technique is simple random, the sample is 560 students, the results indicate that the majority of families present moderate and low family functionality, as well as deteriorated general health, a negative correlation was found between the variable of family functionality and health, because students with low family functionality present a high deterioration in health
