Typology of victims of intimate partner violence: comparison between heterosexual and lesbian female survivors.
Abstract
This work pursues three objectives: Identify a typology of victims of intimate partner violence (IPV) based on the patterns of violence experienced; determine whether this typology differs between women assaulted by a same-sex or opposite-sex partner and explore whether housing tenure and employment status influence a victim's assignment to a class. These objectives are met by applying multigroup latent class analysis (mgLCA) and Coarsened Exact Matching (CEM) to data from the National Bank of Data and Information on Cases of Violence against Women (Banavim). A typology of four classes is identified, which does not differ significantly between women attacked by a partner of the same or opposite sex.
