Perception of health-related quality of life in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus in Sinaloa, Mexico.
Abstract
The objective was to describe the perception of health-related quality of life (HRQOL) in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) attending a primary care public health unit in Sinaloa, Mexico. It is a cross-sectional descriptive study in 141 adult men and women with T2DM. The WHOQOLBREF quality of life scale was used. A total of 58.9% reported satisfaction with their health, while 33.3% described their quality of life as unsatisfactory. In the perception of HRQOL, 75.9% were at a medium level and 24.1% at a high level. These findings provide an understanding of HRQOL in the context of T2DM and may be useful for guiding strategies to improve well-being.
