In Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, cocoa has been a pillar of the Ecuadorian economy, representing the rich cocoa tradition of the country. Despite this heritage, there is a recognized potential to promote local consumption of artisanal chocolate. Microenterprises engaged in the production of artisanal chocolate in Santo Domingo take advantage of the exceptional quality of the local cocoa and generate important socioeconomic impacts. These initiatives can boost job creation, strengthen the local economy and reaffirm the cultural identity of the region. Moreover, by aligning with municipal policies, these enterprises can promote sustainability and innovate ion in the cocoa sector, reshaping the region's socioeconomic landscape.
