The struggle for labor equality: Human rights and discrimination towards the LGBTIQ+ community.
Abstract
Labor discrimination against the LGBTIQ+ community presents a complex human rights problem in Ecuador. Exclusion in labor markets reflects entrenched discrimination in society, which judges these people based on their sexual identity rather than their abilities, undermining their employment opportunities. This problem triggers fundamental legal issues and arises from resistance to accept sexual diversity, clashing with cultural, patriarchal and homophobic patterns. The need for labor policies that respect equality, diversity and guarantee non-discrimination is crucial to ensure an inclusive and fair work environment for the LGBTIQ+ community in the country.
