Abstract

The study analyzes Environmental Education and the responsibility of Public Higher Education Institutions in Ecuador, using a qualitative and descriptive methodology. The legal nature of testamentary arbitration and its implementation are examined, as well as the impact of these concepts in the country. The analysis shows that Environmental Education and sustainability in these institutions not only affect students and academics, but also society in general, training professionals capable of facing current environmental challenges. Collaboration between universities, government and society is crucial to move towards a higher education more committed to sustainability and achieve a positive impact on the environmental and social environment of the country.
