Abstract

The environmental responsibility of Ecuadorian companies was studied from environmental law, evaluating their efficiency in environmental management. A mixed, qualitative and quantitative approach was used, analyzing laws, jurisprudence and specific studies. The results showed that, although the Organic Environmental Code and its Regulations establish standards such as the Green Point certification, ISO 14001 and the Zero Carbon Program, these provisions have not been fully effective. The lack of strategies that encourage companies to adopt environmental management measures is notable; a decrease in the adoption of environmental certifications was identified. It is crucial to develop mechanisms that motivate companies to comply with these standards, to ensure greater environmental responsibility for them.
