Abstract

The research evaluates the feasibility of the cantonization of the Julio Andrade Parish in the Carchi Province through a socio-legal analysis of its positive and negative impacts. The study is relevant for its focus on territorial development and redistribution of political-administrative power. Using a quantitative methodology and a descriptive cross-sectional design, relevant data were analyzed. The results indicate that cantonization could improve the management of resources and public services, but it also faces challenges such as the need for adequate planning and effective public policies. In conclusion, the cantonization of Julio Andrade has the potential to improve the region if the identified challenges are addressed in a comprehensive manner.
