Manifestations and consequences of gender-based political violence in Ecuador.
Abstract
This study analyzes the manifestations and consequences of gender political violence in Ecuador, using a mixed approach with documentary analysis, surveys, interviews and Fuzzy Cognitive Maps. A high prevalence of violence against female politicians is revealed, mainly in the form of verbal harassment, defamation and obstruction of functions with influential factors such as sexist cultural norms, political exclusion and digital violence. The impact is significant, affecting the participation and performance of women in politics, identifying a gap between existing legislation and its effective implementation, as well as a lack of trust in protection mechanisms.
