Sensory Integration Disorder and school performance in primary education.
Abstract
Sensory Integration Disorder (SID) is the inability of the brain to process information from the senses. Studies have shown its presence in the academic environment causing difficulties in School performance (SP) in those who suffer from it. The present cross-sectional, quantitative and correlational research had the objective of analyzing the relationship between SID and SP in a group of private elementary school children. The results showed a frequency of SID for the evaluated sample of 72.72% who were located with variations between hyposensitivity and hypersensitivity. In terms of SP, 59% were at the “Very good” level. The relationship between the variables SID and SP was moderately negative (r= -0.6).
