Abstract

The research addresses how governance structures and policies affect the ability of rural communities to participate in local development and decision-making processes. The main objective is to analyze these impacts and propose effective mechanisms to improve the inclusion and effectiveness of these communities within existing governance frameworks. The methodology is qualitative, using document analysis. The results reveal that although there are legislative and political efforts to improve the participation of rural communities in governance, significant challenges still remain. Research shows that improving the participation of rural communities in governance is crucial for sustainable development and equity in Ecuador
