Educational actions for the rehabilitation and social reintegration of people who have committed crimes in Tulcán, Ecuador
Abstract
The prison system in Ecuador has been suffering a social crisis and different transformations. This research aimed to evaluate the educational actions implemented at the Tulcán Deprivation of Liberty Center, Ecuador, and their impact on the rehabilitation and social reintegration of people deprived of liberty (PPL). Through the application of structured surveys, the participation of PPL in educational programs was analyzed. Educational programs have a positive impact on rehabilitation, there is an insufficiency in the coverage and quality of the programs, as well as structural barriers that hinder access to education
