Financial Education in university students from the Economic-Administrative Area of a public university in Southeastern Mexico.
Abstract
The study aimed to measure the level of financial education among university students. With a quantitative approach and cross-sectional design, 298 students participated (143 men, 154 women, 1 undefined, M age= 20 years), selected through non-probabilistic quota sampling. The instrument "Level of Financial Education in Higher Education Scenarios" was used to measure saving and budgeting. More than 50% of the participants keep a record of their finances and know how to create a personal budget. Regarding saving, 72.1% have the habit, although 34.5% are not interested in having a formal savings account. In terms of budgeting, 63.1% keep track of their debts, and 68.8% know how to create a budget, mainly allocating funds to food, education, and health.
