Towards a theoretical approach to the professional acceptance of risk in emergency responders.
Abstract
Personnel emergency is exposed to permanent risks inherent to the activity they perform. The risk perception of emergency workers has particularities that we try to understand from the way they accept the daily risk of their profession. The objective of this article is to review the concept of professional risk acceptance in order to understand how people working in emergencies can engage in risky behaviors, making a balance between the danger and the benefits obtained. We analyze some theoretical aspects of risk perception and risk acceptance in order to understand some psychosocial mechanisms involved in this population such as cost-benefit evaluation among others.
